This cardigan style hooded jacket is not as hard as it looks. The sample is made with poly “sherpa” but any 2 sided fabric works well with this pattern. Fleece and 2 sided sweater knits or 2 sided denim are good choices. If you are capable, it is helpful to bring your fabric already cut, with the pattern tissue pinned on, to maximize use of class time for construction.
Supply list:
Simplicity Pattern # 8467Fabric for view C*ThreadSewing kit from homeAppropriate needle (and spare) for you fabricSpecialty feet for your machine, appropriate for you fabricFABRICThis project requires 2-sided fabric that is 60” wide. The wrong side will show. I used a synthetic suede backed Sherpa from Joanns for the sample but others have made it in denim, polar fleece and even a sweater type knit fabric. (that one turned out more like a cardigan then a coat)SPECIALITY NEEDLES and FEETPlease be sure to have the correct needle for your fabric. If you’re working with Sherpa or leather-like fabrics a walking foot and/or Teflon foot is very helpful.McDougals offers a 15% discount for any supplies you purchase for a class.SEWING KITBe sure to have on hand the tools you’ll need for you fabric choice. For example, Clips may be more helpful then pins when working with suede and leather-like fabrics.CUTTINGIf you are able, please bring your fabric pre-cut to maximize your classroom sewing time. Leave the pattern pinned to the fabric as we will be marking notches and dots. Bring your pattern envelope to put the pieces in when you’re finished.By all means if you feel you need assistance with cutting bring your fabric, pattern and cutting supplies with you. If you elect to cut in class you may end up doing some finishing at home.I hope this answers any questions you may have- as always feel free to contact me at any time!Linda Sadin281-923-1511
