In this class, we will be learning some heirloom techniques to create a lovely top/blouse for you or a young one. I made a couple for my 5-year-old grand girls. The top or blouse should be a very simple style to let the stitches be the focus. I chose McCall’s M7799 style A and Style C. You can use any simple pattern for the top, a front piece that has no center seam and even a back with no center seam. My pattern has my front piece with no center seam and my back has a center seam. You can put on a simple sleeve or not have a sleeve at all. Make sure the pattern is designed for cotton fabrics, not knits.
Any needles, threads, scissors, or pressure feet purchased the day of class are 15% off, so just let me know if you want me to see what we have in stock, and I can hold them for you. We do NOT sell fabric or patterns.
I recommend using a really good quality linen, cotton/linen blend, or cotton fabric. Since quality is important, I use Buttons and Bows on Memorial and Kirkwood to get my fabric. They have lovely 100% cotton fabrics and cotton/linen blends in soft colors such as white, light blues, and light pinks and they are reasonably priced.
Here is their website: https://www.buttonsnbows.net/
They have a lovely store and mail the order to you. They have been in Houston since the 1980s and the ladies that run it are very helpful and lovely.
