NICU Heart to Heart Service Project

A unique program at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital is helping premature or critically ill newborns create healthy bonds with their mothers – while still in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).  

In the first few days or weeks of life, babies in the NICU are separated physically from their mothers while nursing staff provides round-the-clock care.

The Heart to Heart program uses small pieces of fabric, sewn in the shape of a heart, to transfer the mother’s scent to the baby’s crib or isolette for bonding.

McDougal Sewing will be helping with this worthy undertaking this year. We will be taking finished hearts at any of our three locations listed below from September 1st until November 13th.

We will only be taking finished hearts. These hearts will then be delivered to Donna, who will be taking them to hospitals that need them.

You may need to enlarge the template to 130% on some printers.
