$59.00Learn how to use cotton or cotton blend clothesline to make platters, purses or baskets! We’ll start with a coaster and move on to a large basket! Those who have embroidery machines will design the bottom with embroidery and those with regular machines will do applique.
Pre-requisites: You must know how to use your sewing machine. This is not a beginner class. Your machine must be in good working order before class and please bring all power cords, foot controller and regular Z-Z foot along with all supplies on the supply list. We do have needles and thread, pressure feet and clips at our store if needed.
Supply List:
- 1/4″ x 200ft (0.6cm x 60.8m) of multipurpose 100% cotton or cotton blend sash cord or rope- please bring extra to practice with and make a coaster, just 3-4 yards extra will do. You can get the clothesline rope at most Walmarts, Targets, HEB, or Amazon.
- Scotch tape
- 1/2 to 1 meter or yard of fabric cut into 1″ bias fabric strips. You do not have to wrap rope in fabric.
- tape measure
- lots of thread and bobbins with the color of choice. I use all-purpose thread. I’d wind about 5 bobbins before class. I also chose a color that matched the rope, but you can use a contrasting thread.
- sewing pins – just a few
- sewing machine in good working order and all power cords.
- Regular pressure foot.
- Denim size 14-16 needles or Microtex size 14-16 needles. One full pack of 5
- scissors – fabric scissors and thread scissors.
- Clips to keep fabric on rope, if you choose to add fabric.
