Snuggles for Pets Service Project

In years past McDougal’s and our sewing customers have made breast cancer pillows, pillowcases with toiletries for homeless shelters, adult bibs for meals-on-wheels and backpacks for children entering emergency foster care.

This year we will partner with the SPCA and make kennel blankets in various sizes. Shelters are bursting at the seams, so help us provide a “snuggle blanket” to help shelter animals feel a little more loved. Shelter animals don’t care if the finished blanket is color coordinated or all the same type of fabric. If you have leftover cotton, flannel, fleece strips, etc use them up by sewing them together. Or use whole pieces of fabric in your fabric stash that no longer “speak” to you. Provide a bit of padding by sewing a piece of batting between the two cloth layers. Or use toweling or fleece as backing.

Please help us make kennel blankets in various sizes.

Approximate sizes needed:

• 12” x 18” for small animals
• 18” x 24” for medium animals
• 36” x 40” or larger for large animals

Please drop off your donations by Dec. 17, 2022 at one of our locations.  They will be delivered the following week.

As a thank you for helping us with our 2022 Service Project we will have a raffle.  For every small blanket you donate you will receive 1 raffle ticket. For every medium blank you will receive 2 tickets. For every large blanket you will receive 3 tickets.  We will draw 3 tickets and the prize for each winning ticket will be a Singer Steam Craft Iron valued at over $50.
