Navigating Canvasworks (the free design software from Brother -Online and Desktop versions).

We will share how to understand Canvasworks and get you comfortable with how to do the basics to create personal designs, as well as its limitations. It would be helpful if you already have Canvasworks downloaded to your laptop if you want this portion of the class to be more hands on.

Now let’s have some fun!

What can I cut? From Balsa wood to felt to card stock. Let’s get comfortable with the ability of our machines. (You will not need to use your machine for this part of the class. It will be demonstrated on the Instructor’s machine.)

Looking at other things the Scan N Cut can do. Foiling, Drawing, Embossing and Rhinestone templates. We will look at what is needed to get started with all of these expansions that will enhance your creative abilities. Samples will be available for a visual immersion in possible projects you can do at home. And we will have some hands-on projects for you to do in class!

Project 1:

12×12 Card stock Photo Frame mat border.
This project will help us learn to navigate through a project, which mat should be used, how to resize, and how to personalize the Project pattern.

Project 2:

Simple Vinyl Cuts.
We will cut out our own names/initials, learning how to enter, cut, place and understand where vinyl can be used.

Project 3:

Fabric Applique
Tired of all the fussy cutting? Using our Scan N Cut machines, I will share the techniques I use to precut the applique pieces for my sewing projects before beginning them. This takes some practice but will save us a lot of time in the future with our embroidery and applique sewing and quilting projects.
